Veteran Astronaut Tom Jones Honored at Wings Over Maryland

Tom Jones, veteran Astronaut, former Essex resident and Kenwood High School graduate is being honored at the annual fundraiser dinner and silent auction of the Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum for his contribution to aviation history, including four space flights to the International Space Station. The "Mission Control" emcee and honorary chairman of the evening's  festivities is WBAL Radio Host Jimmy Mathis, who also made a Maryland aviation history achievement. The event includes a shrimp feast and buffet and a silent auction.

The event is open to the public and aviation enthusiasts, students interested in meeting a space hero, alumni and teachers of Kenwood High School of 1973 and anyone interested in supporting the Museum for its preservation and showcasing of Maryland Aviation history is invited to attend. Tickets are $45 for Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum members and $60 for non members.

Tom Jones graduated from Kenwood Senior High School in 1973; received a bachelor of science degree in basic sciences from the United States Air Force (USAF) Academy in Colorado Springs in 1977, and a doctorate in planetary science from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1988. He became an astronaut in July, 1991.
