Duo Subjects of Surveillance, Charged In Fallston Burglaries

A man from Forest Hill and a woman from Joppa were under surveillance when they allegedly broke into a home in Fallston.

A Fallston home was burglarized Wednesday and a man and woman are charged with the crime.

Police believe the pair was scouting other potential burglary locations in Fallston and Forest Hill in the time leading up to the Wednesday burglary, according to a release from the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Joseph H. Wright, 32, of the 2900 block of Andover Road in Forest Hill and Krystal M. Derlunas, 29, of the 2600 block of Kenwood Drive in Joppa are both charged with first-degree burglary and theft between $1,000 and $10,000, online court records show.

Detectives tracked Derlunas and Wright using surveillance as they went to a series of houses in Forest Hill and Fallston, the release states.

Based on witness statements, detectives believe Wright walked up to the homes with a leash in hand and asked those in the area if they'd seen his dog, the release states. Derlunas waited in the truck, police said.

Residents at some of these homes gave police descriptions matching Wright and his vehicle.

A short time later, a home in the 1400 block of Falls Crest Drive in Fallston was burglarized, the release states. The detectives confirmed Derlunas and Wright were in the area at the time, the release states.

The duo was taken into custody in the area of Harford and Fork roads just over the Baltimore County line. They were arrested with the help of Baltimore County police.

Derlunas was released from the Harford County Detention Center Thursday after posting $50,000 bail. Wright remained in custody at the detention Friday. Wright has a criminal record including convictions for theft and drug possession. He was ordered to be held without bail pending trial.

Members of the sheriff's office encourage people to report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods by calling 9-1-1.
